When people talk about destinations, they often picture places where traditions are created. These are the kinds of places where anniversaries are celebrated, engagement photos are taken, date nights become annual traditions, and families gather year after year.
Just outside of Marshall, Texas, Twisted Pines Winery is quietly building exactly that.
Located in the Piney Woods of East Texas, Twisted Pines Winery isn’t simply creating a place to sip wine. They’re building a destination centered on gathering, special events, and meaningful experiences shared.
After visiting the winery ourselves, it quickly became clear that this place is about much more than the wine. A Family History Rooted Deep in East Texas.
Full Disclosure: We were a guest of Twisted Pines Winery and were paid for our promotional services. Of course, as always, all information and opinions in this article are our own.
A Family History Rooted Deep in East Texas

Long before Twisted Pines Winery existed, the land already carried generations of family history for Founders Victor and Jennifer Davis.
The property originally belonged to Jennifer’s family before becoming a home base for Victor and Jennifer’s family, including their son, Tyler, with whom I had the pleasure of spending the day.
Victor dreamed of creating a business that the whole family could work on together, but he had one important requirement: whatever they built had to happen on this piece of land.
Not somewhere else.
Not on another property.
On this property, HOME.
That decision transformed the family land into something larger – a place where memories could be created not only for their family but for their future guests as well.
Tyler summed up the mission of Twisted Pines perfectly: “We want to be a part of people’s life story.”
After hearing the story behind the winery, the mission suddenly feels much bigger than hospitality.
It’s about becoming the backdrop for birthdays, anniversaries, celebrations, reunions, weddings, and other meaningful moments people remember years later.
The Story Behind the Name Twisted Pines

Even the winery’s name traces back to family roots.
Years ago, Victor moved to Elysian Fields to live with his grandparents. Along the road leading to their home stood a twisted pine tree that served as a landmark for the homeplace.
Over time, that tree became more than a landmark.
It became a symbol of home.
When the family dreamed of creating the winery, they wanted visitors to feel the same sense of comfort and belonging.
That’s how Twisted Pines Winery got its name.
Because this place was never designed to feel like a business.
It was designed to feel like home.
Our Experience at Twisted Pines Winery

One of our favorite parts about visiting Twisted Pines Winery was how intentional and personal the experience felt from the moment we arrived.
Because the winery operates by reservation only, the atmosphere felt relaxed and unhurried. Instead of feeling like another stop on a crowded wine trail, it felt like a place designed for people to slow down and truly enjoy the experience. (I could have sat in those rocking chairs facing the water all day!)
And the food and wine completely exceeded our expectations.
We enjoyed the Southern Grazing Board, and it was one of those dishes where every item felt fresh and thoughtfully selected. Two things immediately stood out: the peppered tenderloin and the homemade pimento cheese.
Both were INCREDIBLE!

The peppered tenderloin had just the right amount of flavor, while the pimento cheese tasted creamy and delicious without being overpowering. Pair those with the candied pecans and delicious cheeses, and it’s easy to see that Twisted Pines created the kind of board where you keep reaching for “one more bite.”
I also decided to do a wine flight and tried five different wines. One of my personal favorites was their Sweet Emma, a seasonal sparkling pink moscato with peach and apricot flavors. To quote Twisted Pines, “Sweet Emma is sunshine in a bottle.”
While I was in a sweet wine mood that day, it is important to note that Twisted Pines offers a wide variety of different wines, including dry and sweet reds, dry and sweet whites, rosés, and sparkling wines, so you are sure to find something you love.
Between the food, the wine, and the relaxed atmosphere, our visit felt less like checking off another destination and more like spending an afternoon somewhere I would happily return to.
Why Reservation Only Makes the Experience Different

Visitors should know that Twisted Pines operates by reservation only.
At first glance, that might sound unusual.
But after hearing Tyler explain the reasoning, it makes complete sense.
The winery intentionally maintains a smaller staff so every guest receives personal attention and a thoughtful experience. Rather than rushing visitors through tastings, the reservation model allows them to focus on hospitality and creating a more meaningful experience.
Tyler describes the philosophy as “approachable quality.”
And, honestly, the phrase felt accurate throughout our visit. Not only did Tyler and his staff take great care of us, but I watched them take care of every guest. Tyler personally spoke to everyone and took time to truly make them feel welcome.
Nothing at Twisted Pines felt intimidating.
Whether you’re a longtime wine enthusiast or simply looking for a fun East Texas date destination, the atmosphere at Twisted Pines feels welcoming and comfortable.
Twisted Pines Wants to Become an East Texas Destination
While many wineries focus exclusively on tasting, Twisted Pines has a much larger vision.
The long-term dream extends far beyond wine. Future plans include:
- Cabins for overnight stays
- Disc golf
- Pickleball courts
- Kayaks on the lake
- A pick-you-own flower field
- Expanded gathering spaces
The goal isn’t simply to create another East Texas winery; it is to become a destination where people can spend an afternoon or a weekend, creating memories.
Twisted Pines Winery Is Also a Harvest Hosts Destination

Another unique part of Twisted Pines Winery is that they are also part of Harvest Hosts — a membership program that connects RV travelers with unique overnight experiences at wineries, farms, breweries, attractions, and other small businesses across North America.
For RV travelers exploring East Texas, that means Twisted Pines offers more than just a tasting stop. It becomes part of the journey itself.
With its peaceful Piney Woods setting, welcoming atmosphere, thoughtful hospitality, and long-term vision for expanded destination amenities, it already feels designed for people who want to slow down and enjoy where they are rather than simply pass through.
As Twisted Pines continues growing, the Harvest Hosts partnership feels like a natural extension of the winery’s larger goal: creating a place where people gather, connect, and make memories along the way.
Special Events Are Becoming the Heart of Twisted Pines Winery

One thing became especially clear during our visit: events are not an afterthought here; they are central to the vision.
Whether that means live music, seasonal celebrations, community gatherings, private events, or future destination experiences, the goal is simple: create reasons for people to come and return.
We know that the strongest destinations aren’t built around a single visit; they are built around traditions, and Twisted Pines feels like a place that’s intentionally building toward the future.
