    Be sure to stroll with a glass of wine as you shop the Fredericksburg Main Street shops before heading out to the hiking trails of Enchanted Rock State Park or Lyndon B. Johnson National Park.

    6. Granbury, Texas

    Granbury is a quiet little lake town located about 45 minutes outside of Fort Worth, making it one of the easy day trips from Dallas and one of the relaxing getaways in Texas. 

    Known to have one of the best squares in Texas, this charming community will be a fun getaway, as there are many things to do in Granbury, TX.

    In the summer, you can spend your days lounging at the lake with its lakeside beach or riding jet skis before grabbing a nice meal at one of the fabulous restaurants in Granbury.

    Of course, you can also shop at the boutique shops, catch a ghost tour, or a live performance during your time in town.

    It is one of the small Texas towns worth visiting and a welcome escape from city life, and enjoy some Texas Hill country views!

    Find a little cabin in the woods with a hot tub surrounded by rolling hills, and don’t come out until you have to!  A cabin in the woods of Wimberley is a fabulous escape in Texas for couples.

    You can visit the vineyards and distilleries surrounding this cute community, swim in Jacob’s Well, or shop in Wimberley Square. 

    Wimberly truly is one of the most romantic getaways in Texas!

    9. Boerne, Texas

    Another wonderful Texas Hill Country city making our list is Boerne.  Located about 40 minutes outside San Antonio, it is an easy day trip from San Antonio or Austin

    Couples visiting Boerne will love spending time shopping along Boerne’s main street, checking out the local museums, or hitting up some of the area hiking trails.

    You can also check out the Guadalupe River State Park, wineries, breweries, and distilleries in the area.

    10. Salado, Texas

    The cute little village of Salado makes for the perfect romantic weekend getaway in Texas. 

    You will find eclectic shops, wineries, boutiques, and fun eateries to keep you entertained here.  This artisan community is not short on style either.  Salado hosts events throughout the year to celebrate the rich heritage of their city.

    Visitors will immerse themselves in a small artistic community that loves its antique shops. 

    Spend the day shopping and watching a glass-blowing demonstration before visiting the wine bars and breweries that call Salado home. 

    11. Bandera, Texas

    For couples looking for a cowboy experience (especially a dude ranch) on their romantic Texas getaway, Bandera is exactly where you want to be on your trip! 

    Known as the ‘Cowboy Capital of the World’, Bandera will have you putting on your boots and saying y’all in no time! This Lone Star State in the hill country escape is famous for the dude ranch experience!

    Enjoying the great outdoors is what Bandera is all about, and there is no better place to do this than on a dude ranch!  Here you can live the cowboy lifestyle while still having the modern comforts to make this an enjoyable and romantic getaway.

    People come from all over the Lone Star State to escape the hot Texas sun by swimming in this little oasis with a natural waterfall, one of the waterfalls we love in Texas!

    Dripping Springs is home to numerous wineries, distilleries, and breweries, including Bella Springs Winery and Deep Eddy’s Vodka. Dripping Springs also has a wide variety of cocktails and spirits as well. 

    Couples can take a tour of the Texas Olive Industry Orchard, visit Westcave Preserve, or tour the LBJ Historical Park.

    13. Rockport, Texas

    Another of the romantic getaways in Texas on the Gulf Coast for couples to consider is Rockport

    There are numerous opportunities for water activities while in Rockport!  During your trip, you can kayak, fish, paddleboard, walk the beach, and even bird-watch around this fabulous coastal escape.

    Ensure you have the right gear when setting out on your water adventures. You know, things like sunscreen, some of the best water shoes, sunglasses, etc.

    Of course, Rockport also has plenty of beaches to take a romantic stroll with your honey.  Consider going to one of our favorite beaches in Texas, Rockport Beach. 

    You can also visit the Texas Maritime Museum or tour the art galleries in Rockport if you are looking for a more cultural experience. 

    The close location to Austin and San Antonio makes this a fun getaway from those cities.

    14. Gruene, Texas

    Home to the historic Gruene Hall, the town of Gruene makes for a great romantic getaway in Texas.

    A visit to Gruene will not disappoint. Visitors to Gruene can catch a live performance in the historic Gruene Hall, do a wine tasting, and eat at the famous Gristmill Restaurant!

    After spending the day escaping the Texas heat by floating the Guadalupe River, you can catch an evening performance at Gruene Hal, the oldest continually operating dance hall in Texas.

    Couples can tour Longhorn Caverns to see the intricately formed rock formations or spend the day hiking and picnicking at Inks Lake State Park and LBJ Lake.

    Yes, a trip to Big Bend National Park can be one of the most romantic getaways in Texas!

    Imagine sitting in a hot tub or by the fire pit under a blanket of stars in the Texas countryside. You can do that In Big Bend because the park is a certified Dark Skies location.

    Big Bend is the perfect place to do some hiking, and kayaking on the Rio Grande, find the perfect picnic spot, or take a romantic drive. Spending good quality time with your significant other in Big Bend is perfect.

    Big Bend National Park is one of the perfect couple’s getaways when you want to get away! Make it a weekend getaway, as Big Bend is in a remote location, so it is a bit of a journey.

    During your time in Big Bend, consider staying in the luxury glamping cabins at Camp Elena. We spent a romantic weekend at Camp Elena and loved our time there.

    Camp Elena offers luxurious amenities and incredible views of the mountains. Their location in Terlingua also means you are close to the national park!

    While in this area, check out the small towns in West Texas. These include Terlingua, Alpine, and Marfa, to name a few.

    17. Canyon Lake

    A visit to Canyon Lake in the Texas Hill Country can easily become one of your favorite romantic getaways in Texas.

    Home to numerous wineries and an incredible Texas lake, this is the perfect romantic getaway for people who want to relax and enjoy lake life for a while. The natural beauty of this lake is truly amazing!

    There are also numerous state and national parks nearby to explore. The close location to Corpus Christi means that you can easily see multiple towns in the area as well.

    19. New Braunfels

    This small community is centered around the river, meaning people flock here in the summer months to do some tubing in Texas.

    There are several accommodation sites that we like to use. One of our favorites is because it offers a wide variety of hotels and guesthouses at a good price.

    Another “go-to” hotel booking site for us is We love their loyalty program that allows you to earn free nights, and their “secret prices” for members are fabulous deals!

    HotelsCombined is another cool site. They allow you to compare all the top travel sites with one search to ensure you find the best deal out there. Kayak works in this way as well.

    If you want a luxurious all-inclusive vacation, consider checking out the Sandals/Beaches properties. Sandals properties are for couples only and Beaches are for families. We have visited Sandals in the past and absolutely love the attention to detail and the service they provide.
