Fredericksburg, Texas

Fredericksburg combines its German heritage with with loads of things to do, ensuring that all visitors are in for a special treat.

We always enjoy staying in one of the romantic bed and breakfasts that call this small town home before exploring the Fredericksburg wineries and fabulous outdoor offerings like Enchanted Rock State Park.

After enjoying a glass of bubbly at the cute and trendy Brooke’s Bubble Bar, take your sweetie out for a romantic dinner at Vaudeville or the Cabaret Grill.

San Antonio, Texas

One visit to San Antonio, and you will quickly see why it is on our list of romantic getaways in Texas.

We love staying on San Antonio’s River Walk, especially when we book a room with a view of the river. Since the River Walk is lined with wonderful romantic hotels and restaurants, it is easily walkable for your getaway. 

Some local restaurants to plan a romantic dinner at include Zocca Cuisine D’Italia, Ocho, and Maverick Texas Brasserie.

History lovers will want to visit the San Antonio Mission Trail and the Alamo during your time in the city.

We especially love planning our visit during the holiday season for an extra dose of romance. The Riverwalk is adorned with lights at this festive time of year.

Galveston Island, Texas

A visit to the beach always screams romance, and Galveston Island is no exception.

Located about one hour south of Houston, there are so many things to do in Galveston that you could stay busy for months.

To make this one of the most romantic getaways in Texas, we recommend spending the day at Galveston Island State Park and visiting the Strand in the evenings for fun shopping and nightlife.

Believe it or not, our hometown of Dallas-Ft. Worth should definitely make the list of romantic weekend getaways. 

I mean, there are so many things to do in Dallas-Ft. Worth it that you are bound to find something you both will love.

You and your honey can spend the day visiting one of the many fabulous art museums or exploring the outdoor areas, such as the Dallas Arboretum, Cedar Hill State Park, or the Ft. Worth Botanical Gardens.

One of our favorite activities in Austin is to visit one of the many fabulous spas, perfect for a couples massage!

If you’re in the mood for nightlife, Austin is not short on live music venues either. (Honestly, a visit to Austin isn’t complete without including live music!)

Finding the best places to stay in Austin for your romantic getaway is easy since there are many romantic hotels and city rental properties with fabulous amenities.

Granbury, Texas

Granbury is a quiet little lake town about 45 minutes outside of Fort Worth, making it an easy day trip from Dallas, and a town that we visit OFTEN!

Known to have one of the best squares in Texas, this charming community can easily turn into a romantic and fun getaway, as there are many things to do in Granbury, TX.

In the summer, you can spend your days lounging at the lake with its lakeside beach or riding jet skis before grabbing a nice meal at one of the fabulous restaurants in Granbury.

Of course, you can also shop at the boutique shops, catch a ghost tour, or a live performance during your time in town.

There are many charming Granbury bed and breakfasts and private lake cabins with loads of amenities; you will find the perfect place to stay here!

South Padre Island, Texas

I could not make a list of romantic getaways in the Lone Star State and not include Wimberley, one of the easy day trips from Austin

We love finding a little cabin in the woods with a hot tub surrounded by rolling hills, and not coming out until we have to!  A cabin in the woods of Wimberley is a fabulous escape in Texas for couples.

When we do finally come out, we always visit the vineyards and distilleries surrounding this cute community, swim in Jacob’s Well, or shop in Wimberley Square. 

Boerne, Texas

Another wonderful Texas Hill Country city on our list is Boerne

Located about 40 minutes outside San Antonio, it is an easy day trip from San Antonio or Austin

Couples visiting Boerne will love shopping along its main street, visiting the local museums, or hiking some of the area’s trails.

You can also check out the Guadalupe River State Park, wineries, breweries, and distilleries in the area.

Salado, Texas

We love catching a live performance in the historic Gruene Hall, doing a wine tasting in town, and eating at the famous Gristmill Restaurant!

Burnet and Burnet County, Texas

We spent a romantic weekend at Camp Elena and loved our time there.

Camp Elena offers luxurious amenities and incredible views of the mountains.

Their location in Terlingua also means you are close to the national park!

While in this area, visit the small towns in West Texas, such as Terlingua, Alpine, and Marfa.

Canyon Lake
